On International Women’s Day, join producer Ann Tricklebank and writer Heidi Thomas from the BBC hit show Call the Midwife, and Rosamund Dean, author and deputy editor of Grazia magazine, for a discussion of how pregnancy is depicted in the media, from TV shows to reporting of celebrity mothers-to-be. Chaired by Dr Ann Luce, Principal Academic in Journalism and Communication at Bournemouth University, who has researched and written about the way media and television representations of pregnancy and birth have impacted on women’s real world decisions.
Dr. Ann Luce is a Principal Academic in Journalism and Communication at Bournemouth University. A journalist-turned-academic she is co-editor of Midwifery, Childbirth and the Media and several articles on representations of midwifery in the media. She also researches in the area of suicide prevention and is now bringing that work to look at maternal suicide and how that is portrayed in the media.
