Cream Tea Cruise, with piano accompaniment
Cream Tea Cruise, with piano accompaniment
Cream Tea Cruise, with piano accompaniment, Wednesdays 10th June, 8th July, 9th September at 3pm.
During the season, we run trips from Colt Hill Wharf in Odiham for those who enjoy not only the peaceful surroundings of the Basingstoke Canal but also cream teas served with china tea-sets and table-cloths, to a background of piano accompaniment. A relaxing cruise enjoying a traditional English serving of scones, jam and cream comes with a choice of tea or coffee. A great opportunity to spoil someone or just have a catch-up with your friends. Tables are laid for groups of 4 people, and though we can make slight adjustments you may be asked to share.
These cruises generally last around 2½ hours, taking you westwards to Greywell and King John’s Castle, where you can get off to stretch your legs while the boat turns.
These trips are popular, and to avoid disappointment we suggest you make a booking beforehand. For the added convenience of passengers, we are limited to 32 passengers on this trip, and cannot guarantee to have space at the last moment.
Please Note: This trip must be booked at least 48 hours in advance of departure.

Duration
Around 2½ hours, however please note: trip may be longer when the canal water is low, for example, after periods of little rain. In exceptional circumstances, the skipper may decide instead to head eastwards to Winchfield.
A licenced bar is open on all cruises, where you can purchase other drinks, and light refreshments. Souvenirs are available to help you remember the occasion.
Both the John Pinkerton II and its operating company are wholly owned by The Basingstoke Canal Society (a registered charity). All crew members are trained volunteers, and skippers are accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Proceeds from boat trips go towards safeguarding the Basingstoke Canal for the future.
