Northern England – The Yorkshire Dales
Northern England – The Yorkshire Dales
A 5-day tour of a rugged landscape populated by tough, but very friendly people.
The Pennines are known as the backbone of England. We will walk part of the Pennine Way and also experience the delights of many of the hundreds of Dales (valleys) dotted with picturesque villages with honesty boxes, tea-rooms and welcoming local pubs.
The TV reality series “Our Yorkshire Farm” will be one of the locations on our itinerary as is the spectacular Malham Cove with its towering cliffs, limestone pavement and waterfall.
Accommodation will be a mixture of local bed and breakfast or guest houses and our own yurts. Wild-camping will be an option for those wanting to experience sunset and sunrise with amazing views, undisturbed by humankind. Toilet tents will be erected next door to your yurt.
Day 1 – Head over the hills to Malham Cove for the start of our incredible walk to the top and over the Limestone pavement which was under the sea millions of years ago. We will stay in a typical bed and breakfast.
Day 2 – An all-day hike ending at “Our Yorkshire Farm” for a well-earned rest. Warm, indoor accommodation awaits.
Day 3 – Get your cameras ready for the Pennine Way where we will walk the section that offers fantastic views of the Ribblehead Viaduct, returning over the latter by train and on to our accommodation; a camping barn.
Day 4 – Any trip to Yorkshire will leave you wondering if you don’t visit a cave. Yordas cave is ideal and you won’t need any equipment other than your hiking kit. Afterwards, a day for steady walking through Dales with beautiful waterfalls where you can paddle, swim of just sit in peace. Your warm accommodation is nearby.
Day 5 – We will visit a few typical villages before heading south and back to you drop off point.
