Full two-day Millenium Way Guided Walk
Full two-day Millenium Way Guided Walk
The Millenium Way was the first long-distance footpath on the Isle of Man created in 1979 as part of the celebration of the Millenium of Tynwald. The route largely follows the historic Via Regia from the northern anchorage at Ramsey to the seat of power at Castletown. We've split the route into 2 full-day walks on Saturdays in June, with transport provided from Douglas to and from the start and finish of each day's walking.
Our first walk on Saturday 15th June takes us 13 miles from Sky Hill on the outskirts of Ramsey over moorland to the flank of Snaefell, crossing the infant Sulby River then passing St Luke's Chapel, before a more gentle section leading to Crosby Village. This is a challenging walk requiring a good level of fitness and appropriate footwear and weatherproof clothing.
This second guided walk on Saturday 29th June takes us about 10 miles from Crosby to Castletown using a mix of quiet country roads and footpaths passing St Marks with stunning views over the South of the Island, before dropping to Silverburn Glen and finishing with a riverside walk into the centre of Castletown and a well-earned drink. This is the gentler section of the Millenium Way but contains no less interest; as ever, dress appropriately for the weather and be ready for some wet and muddy sections.
Choose this option to join both walks and save £10 off the combined ticket price for the individual walks.
