Part of Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. We start this tour by taking you to the original 7 streets of Medieval Liverpool. The best way to get to know a city is on foot - we can walk where the traffic cannot reach!
We can take time to look up at the the incredible details on buildings. Ordinarily we miss so much of the beautiful detailing. This is particularly true in the commercial areas where all we see are the doorways and the ground floors. But this is an area and a walk where you need to look up!. The more you look at the buildings the more there seems to see… our job as guides is to draw the eye to the details which can so easily be missed.
Liverpool was 2nd City of Empire by the mid 19th century and nowhere is this more obvious than in the sumptuous banks and insurance buildings of this area - many now hotels and coffee bars but still retaining incredibly rich architectural detail.
We will encourage walkers to look up, tell stories of the buildings, the dates, the architects, the people involved and the connections between the buildings and the growth of the City.
