Hear about Carlisle Luguvalium, the Stanegate and the Wall Fort Uxellodunum. Celebrate 1900 years of our fabulous Wall as you tour through the north Cumbria landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Site enjoying wonderful scenery along the route of Hadrian’s Wall past Lanercost Priory and Banks Turret. The tour includes a 1-hour guided walk along the National Trail, a Roman mile from Birdoswald to Gilsland alongside Wall remains and earth works. Hear why and how the Wall was built, and the impact it had on the local culture and landscape. Alternatively, stay with the coach and visit Birdoswald Fort or enjoy a tea break before re-joining the group in Gilsland at the end of their walk. We include a visit to the Roman Army Museum, where you will be thrilled with the audio visual presentations. We continue into Northumbria National Park to see the Vallum at Cawfields and to pass the highest point on the Wall. Finally, for a fantastic conclusion of our Hadrian’s Wall Guided Coach Tour experience, entry is included to the award winning Vindolanda Fort and Museums and where exciting archaeological excavations are currently taking place.
