A fifth of all ships in the world were built on the Clyde at its peak and while most of the industry has now gone there is still much to discover about the past, present and future of the river.
The tours are operated by Clyde Docks Preservation Initiative (CDPI) – a social enterprise promoting the evolving maritime heritage of the River and Firth of Clyde. CDPI has spent almost a decade researching the maritime heritage of the river, networking with interest groups and advocating for protection of the maritime environment and infrastructure.
Rather than purely walking lectures, our walks are a guided exploration of the urban waterfront and the changes it has gone through. Participants are encouraged to take photographs, do their own research, geotagging projects, etc.
