A walk from past to present to help us understand how important literature has been in Chester’s history.
A short walk to find out about the history of libraries in Chester as well as our famous literary connections. Discover the locations and stories of the old Public Libraries. Find out more about well-known writers with a link to Chester including Charles Dickens and Charles Kingsley. Discover the social history of the Commercial Reading Rooms, Subscription Libraries and the Mechanics Institute.
Tickets £10 per person
Duration approx. 90 minutes. The walk ends at Storyhouse, CH1 2AR. Meeting place is Ye Olde Kings Head, Lower Bridge Street.
Approximate distance of route one mile.
