In the News - Chester, 1824 - Talk

27th June - 2pm
This is an opportunity to step back in time and experience something of the Chester of precisely two centuries ago. With a specific focus on news stories of the day – mostly local, but in the context of wider events – you will find out what was happening in the city at the time and what occupied column inches in the press. There will be insights into issues, concerns and peculiarities of the late Georgian period. This talk by a local writer and historian is based on in-depth research for a forthcoming book, readings from which will be included.
The speaker, Chris Fozzard, has a long-standing interest and involvement in exploring and presenting local history. His credits include heritage walks in the Upton area and his first published book, A Short History of Newton Hall, Chester. He has other writing projects underway, which will inform his talk at this year’s Chester Heritage Festival.
