Higher Saltney Walk
Higher Saltney Walk

30th June - 2pm
Saltney, split by the English/Welsh border is a fascinating area. Following canalisation of the Dee in 1727, land reclamation took place on the marshes to allow the development of lower Saltney. Rapid industrialisation took place in the nineteenth century with the coming of the railways. We will start in the lower area to consider some of this industry and transport links. Moving to Higher Saltney, a significant part of the Victorian community remains, churches, pubs etc. The areas forming a boundary with Higher Saltney: Hough Green, Curzon Park, the Buddicom, Lache & Lache Park estates will also be considered.
Tickets are free of charge but due to limited numbers booking is essential.
Starts and ends Asda Saltney Supermarket, River Lane, Chester, CH4 8RH.
