Chester’s 3 Rs - Walk
Chester’s 3 Rs - Walk
17 June 14:15
18 June 18:30
This walk explores three key things that help to give Chester city centre a distinctive sense of place – the Roman legacy, the unique Rows and the half-timber Vernacular Revival. The walk includes Chester’s main streets and examines how the layout of modern Chester is still influenced by its origin as a legionary fortress. It will venture onto the lesser-known Rows and discover some of Chester’s lost Rows. The tour will also explore how the so-called Vernacular Revival in Victorian times has given Chester a characteristic black and white appearance.
Paul Hyde, of Chester Civic Trust, is your guide for this 90-minute walk. Please note: the walk is not intended for children, although suitable for older teenagers. The route is not fully accessible as it includes many steep steps.
